The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a key stage 2 assessment to be taken by pupils at the end of year 4. The purpose of the MTC is to make sure the times tables knowledge is at the expected level. The MTC is an online test where the pupils are asked 25 questions on times tables 2 to 12.
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is an assessment that the Government has recently introduced for all pupils in Year 4. It is an online assessment that has been designed to assess whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help schools to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided.
From 2022 onwards the MTC will be compulsory, with all pupils in Year 4 completing the assessments. There will be a 2 week window from Monday 3th June 2024 for schools to administer the check.
The MTC is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times tables questions, which means it will be completed on a computer. Your child will answer 3 practice questions before moving on to the official check and will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.
When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important. The more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.
Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help pupils master the times tables! To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds!
All children from years 2 to 6 have a username and password so they can also access this website from home. If they lose this, please see their class teacher.
Comber Grove Primary School is a one form entry (1FE) primary school in Camberwell. Due to falling pupil numbers across Southwark in the last 5 years we are consulting on what would be the most appropriate decision for the future of primary education in the locality. The Council are proposing to close the school with effect from the 31st August 2024, and would like your views on the proposed closure.
