Art at Comber Grove

The visual arts play an important part of life here at Comber Grove Primary School. Each academic year begins with an art week, the children spend the first few days completing art work which we then display at our annual art exhibition. Child’s work is framed and parents have the opportunity to purchase their child’s work. Art is taught for arts sake as well as incorporated into our half termly topics.

A range of art skills are taught such as; painting, drawing, printing, batik, weaving, sculpture and sewing. Childrens work is displayed in classrooms and corridors around the school. Whenever possible children are give the opportunity to visit galleries such as  Tate Modern, and the National Portrait Gallery as well as to work with professional art groups.

Visual art and DT are taught each half term, we teach a range of art skills and have worked hard to ensure these skills are built upon each year from year 1 to year 6. Please click on our progression grid to see how the subject skills are progressed through the years.
